I run a tax prep office. In 2019 I started a Facebook group called Tax Preparer Stress Relief, thinking maybe a dozen people would join. We're now over 13,000 strong. This site is the next chapter — tools I've built with AI, a community that gets it, and competitions that would get flagged on Facebook.
Everything I'm building to help tax pros work smarter. Click a project to dive in.
A front-desk check-in and workflow tool built for multi-office tax operations. Your receptionist logs clients in, assigns difficulty ratings so preparers know what they're getting, and the traffic heat map shows exactly when your office is slammed — so you can staff smarter.
Track every IRS, state, and local notice your clients receive — all in one place. Included as part of InQ Check-In, the Notices Tool keeps you on top of deadlines so nothing slips through the cracks during the chaos of tax season.
A QuickBooks Desktop alternative that doesn't cost a fortune or force you into the cloud. Full check register, reporting, and no forced cloud migration. Built because we got tired of Intuit's shenanigans too.
QuickBooks Desktop is set to sunset in May 2027, and most of the replacements on the market are cloud-based — which isn't what every office wants. InQ Ledger is one of the few true desktop alternatives out there. It's also one of the least expensive, on purpose: when offices move off QuickBooks Desktop, they'll also need to find a new payroll provider, and that's a real added cost. We've built our pricing to account for that, instead of pretending it isn't part of the decision.
The full client management platform — workflow tracking, automated status notifications, and a client-facing portal where clients can check return status without calling your office. Will eventually integrate with the Check-In System.
InQ Check-In and InQ Portal share a database and talk to each other. When a client is checked in up front, they automatically appear in the queue inside Portal — no re-entering client info. The difficulty rating assigned at check-in carries over to Portal too, so preparers immediately know what they're getting. When a preparer assigns themselves to a return inside Portal, that assignment shows up back in the Check-In System, so the front desk always knows who's working what. Check-In is built to be the front desk and admin side of the operation, while Portal is built to be the tax preparer and client-facing side.
Targeting June 2027.
An email blast tool built into InQ Check-In and InQ Portal for sending updates to a large group of clients at once — deadline reminders, office closures, document requests, and more, without exporting a spreadsheet every time.
InQ Notify shares a database with both InQ Check-In and InQ Portal, so your client list is already there — no importing or exporting required. A button inside each program takes you straight into InQ Notify, ready to send.
Custom websites for tax professionals — not a template shared by thousands of other preparers. InQ Designs builds your site from scratch around your brand, your services, and your story, then keeps it updated for you. Live in days, not months.
You send a quick email about your firm — services, story, any third-party links you use (TaxDome, Canopy, etc.), and what you love or hate about your current site. InQ Designs runs that through an AI-powered design pipeline and sends back three genuinely distinct design options — not three color variations of the same template. You pick the one that feels like you, request any tweaks, review a private live preview on desktop and mobile, and approve it when you're happy. Once approved, your site goes live on your domain — or a new one, with the first year free when you register through InQ.
A fully custom-built website, hosting, third-party integrations (TaxDome, Canopy, and similar tools), and unlimited updates by email with a 1-business-day turnaround. Need new hours posted, a new service added, a new photo swapped in? Just email it in and it's handled — no logins, no page builders to learn.
$49 one-time setup fee, then $99/year. Flat — no tiers, no content packages, no bundles. InQ Portal customers will get the setup fee waived and the first year free once Portal launches.
Free calculators, reference sheets, and utilities for tax preparers. No login required, no strings attached. Built to save you time during crunch season.
Three free calculators built to give clients quick, real answers during a consult:
S-Corp Savings — Estimate the potential self-employment tax savings for a client considering an S-Corp election, with FICA comparison logic built in. Great for showing prospects the numbers on the spot.
Penalty & Interest — Calculate IRS failure-to-file and failure-to-pay penalties along with compounded interest, using current and historical rates. Useful for clients who are behind and need to understand what they actually owe.
Price Comparison — Visualize the value of using an independent tax professional versus a national retail chain, based on current NATP survey averages. A simple way to justify your fee.
The Facebook community where tax pros vent about clients, share wins, swap tips, and remember they're not alone in this chaos. Thousands of preparers strong and growing.
TPSR isn't just the Facebook group. Creating a free account on tpsr.tax unlocks tools built specifically for the community:
PITA of the Month — Submit your worst client story of the month, vote on the best (worst) submissions, and see who takes home the crown. A little catharsis goes a long way during tax season.
Marketplace — Browse and post listings for practices for sale, job openings, and tax pros looking for work — all within the community, member to member.
Events — Find CE courses and community meetups happening near you, or submit your own event for other members to see.
CE courses, community meetups, and TPSR gatherings. Because sometimes the best stress relief is being in the same room with people who get it.

The story behind the tools — and the tax pro building them.
I run a tax prep office. I know what it's like to have 40 clients in the queue, phones ringing nonstop, and someone walking in with a grocery bag full of receipts asking if you can squeeze them in real quick. Tax season is a grind, and for a long time I just dealt with it like everyone else — white-knuckle it until April 15th and collapse.
In 2019, I started the Tax Preparer Stress Relief group on Facebook. I figured maybe a dozen people would join — just a place to vent and laugh about the chaos. Today, we're over 13,000 members strong. Turns out, tax professionals don't just want to vent. They want community, tools, and proof that someone else is going through the same thing.
This isn't a software company pitch. It's one preparer sharing what works — and having some fun along the way.
I've always loved technology. When AI started getting good enough to actually be useful, I dove in — not just to learn it, but to build things with it. I started creating tools to solve the stressors in my own office. Workflow bottlenecks, client communication headaches, the stuff that makes tax season feel like a survival situation.
That's why I built this website. It's an expansion of the group — a place where I share what I'm working on, answer questions for anyone curious about AI and how it can help a tax practice, and run things like the PITA of the Month competition. The kind of content that would probably get flagged on Facebook.
The TPSR Facebook group is the heart of everything. 13,000+ tax pros venting about clients, sharing wins, swapping tips, and reminding each other they're not alone. This site, the tools, the games, the competitions — it all grew out of that group.
